Join Ironia Elementary School’s Courtyard Habitat
One of the treasures of Ironia Elementary
School is the wildlife habitat established by the
PTA in the school’s courtyard in 2004.
The habitat was designed
to enhance student education and appreciation of nature. Each area of the habitat is a unique learning
environment for the children from the Monarch Butterfly Garden to the Student Gallery
Garden, from the Bird Nest Cam (where
students can view activities such as eggs hatching) to the themed Container Gardens.
Each grade participates in curriculum-based activities that foster a
love of nature as well as an understanding of native plants.
The outdoor classroom also
includes a weather-proof deck and tables, a weather station and interpretive
signs to guide students.
Please consider joining
this worthwhile exciting committee. We
will keep the habitat growing and help bring hands -on outdoor programs to your
children, such as Symbolic Monarch Migration, Adopt-a-Feeder, Adopt-A-Critter
and more! Once again, no experience is
necessary, just a desire to help bring our children closer to nature.
