November 2: Whole School Community Meeting:  9:15 am - 9:40 am
The November whole school community meeting will be held today at
9:15 am in the Ironia Gym.  Please join us as our second grade students
lead us!  Parents are invited to attend to see how our students begin each
day!  Remember to have your child wear purple as we celebrate our
monthly Character Education theme of Citizenship.

November 2: Halloween - Candy Buy Back Program
Join the Randolph Community as we thank and support our brave men and
women serving overseas!  The Dental Office of Dr. Anthony Fusco and
Dr. Joseph Caravano is proud to be participating in the Operation Gratitude
Candy Buy Back Program.  Families may bring extra Halloween candy
to Dr. Fusco's office on November 2.  Children will receive $1.00 per pound
for each pound of candy donated.  In addition, children will learn about 
dental hygiene and enter a contest to win an Ipod.  Dr. Fusco's office is
located at 390 Route 10 West (corner of Millbrook Avenue) in Randolph.

November 5 & 6: Randolph Township Schools Closed
New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) Convention
November 9 - 13: Ironia PTA / Hope House Thanksgiving Food Drive
Ironia will be participating in the annual Hope House Thanksgiving Food
Drive.  A flyer will be sent home with all students detailing the collection
process.  If possible, we ask that all students donate a food item to this
worthy cause.  Each class will be assigned a separate canned/boxed
non-perishable food item that is needed at this time.  We would ask that
(in conjunction with our Character Education theme of Citizenship) you
encourage your child to participate in this voluntary event.  Note that the
flyer is a suggestion but any donation will gladly be accepted!
*Turkeys will also be collected.  Please check back for further details.
November 10 & 11: PTA Sponsored Author Visit - Mr. Bruce Van Patter
Illustrator and Creative Writing Teacher Bruce Van Patter will be visiting
Ironia to present an interactive creative writing assembly to students in
grades 2-5.  Mr. Van Patter is a public speaker with 20+ years experience
in illustration.  He is a motivator who " . . . will get your kids excited about
writing their stories!"  In addition to the creative writing assembly,
Mr. Van Patter will offer a Narrative writing workshop to Ironia's 3rd & 4th
grade students.
Assembly Times:   November 10:  12:15 pm- 1:10 pm- 4th & 5th grade assembly
November 11:  9:15 am- 10:15 am- 2nd & 3rd grade assembly
November 11: Ironia School - Picture Retakes
School picture retakes will be held today.  Students must return any photos
that were previously taken.  If your child did not have his/her photo taken,
forms may be found in the main office.  All photos must be prepaid.
Nov. 12, 13, 16, 17: Ironia Parent - Teacher Conferences
Ironia students will have half days during this time to allow time for parents
to meet with Ironia teachers and staff.  Please note that early dismissal time
for students in Grades 1 - 5 will be 1:38 pm.
*Note:  AM and PM kindergarten students will begin and end at
their regularly scheduled time.
November 13: Market Day Orders Due (online orders due November 14)
The Market Day Shop-At-Home grocery program offers a wide
selection of over 180 high quality foods at competitive prices.  Please visit

November 13: Ironia Reading Train:  All Aboard!
To encourage and support the love of reading in our children, Ironia students
will participate in the Ironia Reading Train silent reading program each
Friday from 9:10 am - 9:30 am.  All students are asked to bring one or two
books and sit with their class in the hallway and read silently.  Ironia staff
members will model appropriate silent reading etiquette.  Welcome aboard!

November 14: PTA Family Portraits:  10:00 am - 6:30 pm
The Ironia PTA will be hosting Family Portrait Day with Phipps Studios.
The wonderful family service is offered each year.  Appointments will be
scheduled throughout the day from 10:00 am - 6:30 pm.  The $15.00 portrait
fee includes one 10"x13" full color family portrait, with the option to purchase
additional portraits.  Holiday cards will also be available.  If you would like
to schedule an appointment or if you have any questions, please contact

November 18: Test of Cognitive Skills (TCS)
Due to a delay in the receipt of testing materials, the Ironia TCS was
postponed.  The test has been rescheduled for Wednesday, November 18.
The test will be administered to all third grade students and any fifth
grade students who did not previously take it.  No preparation is
necessary for the test.  Please be sure that your child has a good night's 
sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.  If you have any questions, please
contact the Ironia main office.
November 20: Ironia Reading Train:  All Aboard!  9:10 am - 9:30 am
November 20: Market Day pick-up (Ironia Gym):  3:45 pm - 4:45 pm
Market Day orders will be available for pick-up beginning at 3:45 pm in
the Ironia Gym.  Please remember to bring your payment.  Note that cash
or checks (made payable to Market Day) will be accepted.  Credit cards
may be used for online orders only.  All orders must be picked up by
4:45 pm.  The PTA is not responsible for any order left after 4:45 pm.
November 20: Ironia School Spirit Day!
Wear a t-shirt and show where you have been!
Show your school spirit and join the Ironia family as we celebrate
our travels!  Wear a t-shirt that shows where you been!  Have you
gone to Disney World?  Traveled to the Southwest?  Did you take go
on thrill ride at Great Adventure or visit the beautiful New Jersey
shore?  Perhaps Europe is more your style?  Share your memories
and experiences with friends!

November 23: In-house field trip:  Kits Kaboodle (Social Studies)
Grades K - 3:  One Room School House
New England, 1890s - Enroll in Miss Mabel Weatherby's schoolhouse.
Bring your primers and a clean slate for a lesson in the three R's with
fun recitations, spelling bees and a square dance at the spring jubilee!
Showtime:   10:15 am:  K & 1st grade
11:15 am:  2nd & 3rd grade
Grades 4 - 5:  Colonial Life Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania, 1730s - Come celebrate spring with servant Katie Cotswold
in this young Colonial village.  Meet the townsfolk, join in the chores, games
and frolics, and take a turn in the Maypole dance.
Showtime:   12:38 pm:  4th & 5th grade
November 25: Half Day for all Randolph Township Schools
Ironia Students will be dismissed at 1:38 pm for the Thanksgiving recess.
*NOTE:   AM Kindergarten will be dismissed at 1:38 pm.
PM Kindergarten will be cancelled and made up at a later date.
November 26 & 27: School closed for Thanksgiving Holiday
